KAPOW Trademark Licensing Procedure
As you may remember from our discussions at the 1998 KAPOW Coordinators' Conference and the October 1998 Newsletter, KAPOW: KIDS AND THE POWER OF WORK and the KAPOW logo are trademarks of the National Child Labor Committee. Trademarks are valuable assets, and therefore use of the KAPOW logo is limited. This means that each time you plan to use the KAPOW logo beyond the use permitted by your affiliate or partnership agreement (eg., anything above and beyond program materials for partnerships in your KAPOW program), you must follow the attached procedure to get prior approval and permission from NCLC. To assist the National Office in promptly processing your request for each one-time-use of the logo, please be prepared to provide the attached information request in writing (fax or email), at least 3 weeks in advance of your date of production.
We hope this addresses any issues or concerns you might have, and we appreciate your cooperation in maintaining the quality of the KAPOW program. Please make sure that your participating school and business partners are made aware of this procedure. Of course, feel free to call your KAPOW Representative with any questions and know that we will do everything possible to accommodate your request as quickly as possible.
STEP 1: Submit your proposal
Your proposal should include:
STEP 2: Upon approval, NCLC will send you a limited license to be signed by an authorized person from your organization along with the KAPOW artwork (disk).
STEP 3: NCLC has the responsibility and right to review and approve the final product or service prior to multiple reproduction. You will need to mail NCLC three (3) examples of your proposed material/service (prototype). You will be notified promptly of NCLCs approval or request for changes. If modifications are required, you will need to mail NCLC another three (3) examples of the final, produced product or service.
STEP 4: Each request for each logo use requires a new proposal, NCLC permission, license, and fee of $35.
