BASIC SKILLS Reading, writing, arithmetic and mathematics, speaking and listening	Job and Career Awareness	Students role-play being news reporters, conduct and record interviews with employees about their jobs.
	Communication	Students write sentences, then take turns saying the sentences aloud, expressing different feelings contained on cards they pick from a bag. Discussion follows about how important it is to be aware of how they say things, not just what they say.
RESOURCES Abililty to allocate time, money, materials space and staff	Decision Making	Groups of students plan a party given a $50 budget and a list containing choices and costs for space, food, and entertainment.
PERSONAL QUALITIES Individual responsibility, self-esteem and self-management, sociability, and integrity	Self-Awareness	Students interview each other to discover areas of interest and abilities, then produce a resume (called "Expert Card" in the lesson).
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS Individual responsibility, self-esteem and self management, sociability, and integrity	Positive Work Habits and Attitudes	Students create a storyboard for a commercial that "sells" good work habits and attitudes or warns against bad ones.
	Self-Awareness	Students interview each other about what they do well and complete a "My Perfect Job" chart, thinking about what kinds of work they might do.
	Overcoming Bias and Stereotype	During a class discussion, students are treated fairly or unfairly, depending on the color of the sticker they are wearing.
	Teamwork and Interdependence	Teams clean up their school playground and discover they can accomplish more working together than alone.
THINKING SKILLS The ability to learn, to reason, to think creatively, make decisions, and to solve problems	Decision Making	Groups of students design, advertise and present a new product from the start to the finish.
